“Who amomg the strongs will give me a hand?
Where can I find the eternal to adhere with my miserable, helpless and terribly lonesome “I”?
Leonid Andreyev “The Thought”
Before the publication, Leonid Andreyev gave the story to Maksim Gorky to read.
“It’s a marvelous story”, said Gorky. “Let them dread life, bind up with iron clutches of despair their despicable depravity and insolence, fill up the emptiness of soul with fear and horror! If they can withstand it, they will recover, if not – they will die, disappear!”

A sad story in one act
The Georgian audience is particularly attracted by the performances based on the versions of Nodar Dumbadze’s stories.
“HELLADOS” is one of the remarkable stories by the great author, telling about the feelings of the Greek and Georgian boys, love of friends and homeland, and their tragic fate.
The director Petre Chargeishvili offers the audience a performance staged according to this very story.
Dedicated to the memory of Lasha Kukhianidze
Partners of the Batumi Ilia Chavchavadze Professional State Drama Theatre and the performance “HELLADOS” are the Academician B. Naneishvili National Center of Mental Health and Batumi Medical Center

Based on Nicholas E. Baehr’s screenplay
Cinematography often refers to the screening of plays created for theatre. Not infrequently the opposite also happens.
The stage-director Gaga Goshadze made his choice on Nicholas E. Baehr’s screenplay “The Incident or the Case in the Subway” on the base of which an acclaimed Hollywood movie was made.
The performance “The Last Station” was staged at the Batumi State Drama Theatre in 2011 and attracted the attention of the audience from the very start with a powerful storyline and dramatic situation, unfolded in one of the train carriages.
Owing to the regulations imposed due the COVID infection, the Theatre is unable to receive the audience for the premiere performance. The performance will be held in an empty hall in front of the TV cameras.
The project is implemented on the basis of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Batumi Drama Theatre and Ajara Public Broadcaster.

In one act
We – the actors and actrresess, directors. Artists, composers, light and sound designers who are working on a new play at Batumi Drama Theatre at the moment, are investigating the topic that is “never out of fashion”, regretfully. We are investigating the war without shootings, dirty clothes, news outpouring from TVs. Electra is sending a letter into the night space and is wearing a big black “Balenciaga” dress:
“You and I will give everything away and build a hut at the rock where we used to play as children. I have preserved the place for us to start everything anew.
I will give you my arms to fight, my eyes – to perceive, my mouth – to speak. I will give you my legs to run and lips to kiss – if you will not be able to act yourself. I will give you everything, only please come back, Orestes, come back to me. And I will make a delicious omeletfor you!”
